ODBDSLC #168 - Sketch #4

Happy Tuesday!! The Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge is bringing our 4th sketch for the month, please join us here.

August is a month of guy birthdays in my family so I created this masculine card using this adorable chickadee and wonderful verse from the You Will Find Refuge set. I colored the chickadee with copics and embossed masculine designer papers with embossing folders.

Friends of Speedy TV challenge #87 - Use Metal

The Mark's Finest Papers Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week is to use metal on a card, join us here for a chance to win a stamp set.
I pulled out some old Stampin Up antique hardware to accent my adorable sand dollar that's laying on the boardwalk (I promise I'll put him back in the water!) I inked up only the 'sand dollar' from the sentiment and placed it in the metal frame which is attached with brads. The hinge is also attached with a metal brad and satin ribbon wrapped around the edge of the card. A touch of gray copic marker was added around the edge of the sand dollar to make the white really pop.

Mark's Finest Papers stamps: Sand Dollar
Other Supplies: SU hardware (retired), satin ribbon, embossing folders, copic marker, large scallop border die, foam tape.

Many Blessings,
DJ

Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge #167

This week we have a third sketch for the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge, check it out here. I'm so excited this week, I decided to make you all some peach perserves, this was my first try so hopefully it tastes ok, lol! I envisioned the panels as shelves where I can store these deliscious jars of Georgia peach goodness and you'll be excited to see that I won a blue ribbon for my effort (at least in my own mind)! There's a touch of Cheery Lynn lace doily border under the jars and the peach cardstock underneath is embossed and lightly colored with an ink pad. The blue ribbon is made with Spellbinder circle and scalloped circle and a little banner die.

Our Daily Bread Designs: Blue Ribbon Winner

ODBDSLC #166

Hope you're having a blessed week with lots of warm summer weather! Unless you're tired of warm weather, then I hope it's cool and refreshing where you are!

We have a really beautiful and challenging sketch this week for the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light challenge. Hop on over and join us, all the details are here.
I knew immediately that I wanted to ink up this pretty watering can and colored it with Inktense watercolor pencils and a water pen, then added glitter glue to the flower centers and the butterflies. I wanted to be able to see the satin ribbon underneath the bow, so I placed it sideways and accented the bottom with a lace border die.

Our Daily Bread Designs images used: Happy Birthday

Other Supplies:
embossing folders, doily die, satin ribbon, foam tape, Inktense pencils, water pen, glitter glue, lace border die.

Friends of Speedy TV challenge #85 - Glitter

The Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week is to make a card with glitter, join us here for a chance to win a stamp set.
They've started stocking the poinsettias in the craft store that are covered in glitter, so when I found out about the glitter challenge, I immediately had the idea to make a Christmas card with the beautiful Mark's Finest Papers Poinsettia from the Poinsettia Blooms set. The blooms are heat embossed and watercolored with reinkers and waterpen, then layered over a sentiment mounted on Spellbinder ovals and decorative oval. Here's a closer shot of my glittery flower centers.

Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers - Poinsettia Blooms
Accessories: embossing folders, Spellbinder ovals, corregated cardstock, glitter glue, reinkers, water pen, foam tape.

Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge 165

This is my first Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light challenge on the design team, it's so exciting! Join us at the Our Daily Bread Designs blog for details on the challenge.
I made this card for myself as much as for my friend, who's been going through a hard time. I need to continually be reminded not to worry and to give all of my cares to the Lord! Hopefully, this will bring her comfort in her difficult time, as it did me in making it!
Now for the card, I had this crazy idea to frame the Quatrefoil Pattern die and layer on designer paper. The reason this is a crazy idea is because I don't consider myself good at measuring and cutting, weird beause I've done a little quilting in the past, anyway, I managed to cut out the frames with the help of my paper cutter and you can see the result peaking out behind the doily, which is layered under the ODBD Crochet Circle and this inspirational verse. You'll see some antique sponging, embossing folder, and seam binding ribbon bow in the mix also.

Make it Monday - Double Backgrounds

I made this one for the Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge - double background, and a chance to get started on Christmas cards, check out the tutorial and challenge on the PTI blog.
I love the Hawaiian Shores Cardstock with Classic Kraft together so I inked up my adorable bird from the PTI 'Peace Be Still' set and cut him out with the matching die, added the olive branch and a black eye (no, I didn't hit him, I just added an eye with a Sharpie) then layered him on Spellbinder circles with a doily die underneath, a couple of the layers are raised with foam tape for dimension.

For the double background challenge I stamped the background sentiment from the same set and then stamped the snowflake (also from the same set)with the one off method, getting a lighter effect on the watercolor paper.
The embellishment is a twine bow with a seam binding bow and button on top.

Papertrey Ink: Peace Be Still

Other Supplies:
Spellbinder circle dies, doily die, seam binding ribbon, twine, button, tiny circle die, sharpie, foam tape.
