As I reflect on this beautiful sunny day, that so completely changed the course of our history as a nation so completely ten years ago, I feel so proud to be an American, and feel such warmth and compassion for all those that have lost loved ones these past ten years. God bless America, our thoughts and prayers are with you!

I've been a bit lazy this weekend and figured I'd better get this card posted for this week's My Favorite Things sketch challenge. I got this sweet PI image at the end of last fall and haven't got to use it much, so it was fun to ink it up again!  I heat embossed her and the sentiment with sparkly black, which gives it all a nice shimmer, not always visible in the photos. She's watercolored with Tombow markers and I layered her on several Spellbinder dies, each with foam tape for lots of dimension. I always love the way stitching looks on cards and though my sewing machine doesn't work very well, I added a little border stitching here. All of the My Mind's Eye designer papers are embossed with embossing folders and I added a My Favorite Things lace edge die (purple) and lace made with a Martha Stewart edge punch (white).  I can't resist the seam binding ribbon, and added an orange bow here.

Here's another card, this one for this week's Sweet & Sassy sketch challenge.  It was love at first site when I saw this gorgeous jay image!! I think it was the berries that made me go toward the Christmas card idea, I used embossing folders and added a button with leaves to mimick the image. The image is heat embossed and colored with Tombow markers.
Along the bottom I added Martha Stewart everygreen edge punch, scalloped edge punch, and seam binding ribbon bow.
Such a beautiful week here in Tacoma, Washington, I think summer finally came!! Here it's my day off and I want to stay inside and make cards, shame on me!! I wanted to take a little time and post this card that I made for several challenges on Splitcoaststampers.com.
The flowers were made with SU So Saffron yellow and My Mind's Eye kraft printed dp.  I spritzed the layers with water, scrunched, and sponged with rust ink.  The flower centers were made with a Stampin Up flower punch.  The branches and lace edge punch are Martha Stewart and the leaves and flowers are Spellbinders dies.

It's time for the weekly Verve sketch challenge again and I've been having such a great time with all of the new Verve goodies!! This new Verve flower set called 'Sunny Days' is one of my favorites and the leaf die really makes it easy to cut out a lot of foliage. I heat embossed and colored the flowers with Tombow markers and layered with foam tape. There's a couple layers of Verve labels under each flower that were embossed with embossing folders.  The verse is also heat embossed and lightly overstamped with a stamp from the 'Tag Time' Set and cut out with the matching tag die.
The sweet background paper is by My Little Shoebox and the lace is a Martha Stewart edge punch.
God Bless, DJ

I've been back from vacation for a couple of days, and have enjoyed using my new paper by Authentique.  I made two cards, the first is for the My Favorite Things challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com
I heat embossed this Pure Innocence image with sparkly black and colored with Tombow markers.  All of the dp is embossed with embossing folders and I added My Favorite Things lace edge die to the top and bottom.
My second card for today was made for the Splitcoaststampers.com weekly sketch challenge and I chose to use the Stampin Up Young Vermillion stamp to go with the elegant paper.  I love adding foam tape to each layer under the image, it give so much dimension!!

I sure have been enjoying this seam binding ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique on Etsy.com, so many beautiful colors, I added chocolate and pink here.
