Friends of Speedy TV challenge #140 - Child's Card

The Friends of Speedy TV challenge this week is to make a card for a child.  Join us here for a chance to win a stamp set and for all of the details on the latest challenge.

Super fun challenge this week to make a child's card.  I decided to take it under the sea with this sweet seahorse from Mark's Finest Papers 'Oh, Crab stamp set'.  The seahorse was heat embossed and colored with Stampin Up pens and a water brush and the greeting was borrowed from the Silly Shells Stamp Set.  I added lots of layers of Spellbinder dies and blue sparkly jewels and the black background pieces were embossed with a swirl embossing folder and I used a punch to round the corners.

I'm crazy for this hydrangea from the new Mark's Finest Papers release, I heat embossed and colored it with Stampin Up Markers and water pen.  The background was made by stamping the plaid from the Kilt Fun stamp set on kraft and I dug out my old stash of eyelets to complete the challenge.

ODBDSLC212 - Sketch

The Shining the Light challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs this week is a Sketch.  Join us here for all of the details.

I need a second masculine card this month, lots of summer birthdays, and this sketch really fit the bill. I heat embossed this wonderful ODBD sand dollar and water colored it in purple, the color of our living sand dollars here in the Northwest.  I created a watery panel for behind the sand dollar by spritzing water color paper with ink.  The horizontal panel was dry embossed and a twine knot was added for a nautical feel. Pennant dies from the ODBD Pennant Dies set were distressed and sponged for a border.

ODBD Stamps Used: Ocean Treasures
ODBD Dies Used: Pennant Dies

Other Supplies: Re-inkers, water pen, spritzer, twine, foam tape

Last week I made a masculine card and so I wanted some lace and flowers this time.  For the sketch, I chose the beautiful roses from the ODBD Smell the roses stamp set, I heat embossed and water colored the roses with Stampin Up pens and layered on Spellbinder dies. The ODBD designer paper from the Blushing Rose Collection went so perfectly with my card and I added my favorite lace from the ODBD Beautiful Borders die set in black to give a little pop.
